It takes a partnership of caring people working together to help fight hunger, fear and despair on the streets of Los Angeles' Skid Row.
You have demonstrated that kind of compassion by linking your heart to Union Rescue Mission. That's why I know you'll want to hear how some very unusual circumstances have stressed our efforts to cut expenses to the bare bones and left us with an unexpected financial shortfall:
Easter, one of our busiest and most spiritually opportune times, came so soon after Christmas this year that it was hard for our partners to respond. Yet we ministered to more hungry people than ever!
Rising food and fuel costs are hitting us hard. With thousands of meals to serve every day, this has put even more stress on our budget.
Summer is fast approaching. That means many of our friends will be traveling or spending time with family. Giving will almost certainly decrease, straining our budget even more.
Would you consider giving a gift today?
GOD HAS CALLED US TO CARE FOR THE POOR. Where HE leads, HE will prepare a way. Though there is a shortfall in our budget, I trust there is not a shortfall of compassion among caring people like you.
Today, I'm praying that you'll help during this time of extreme need. Anything the Lord leads you to give will help provide vital care for Los Angeles poorest families. Thank you!
God bless you,
Rev. Andy Bales, CEO, Union Rescue Mission
