Ever notice it's nearly impossible to find good, independent real estate market research in Los Angeles? Where are home prices going? What about that housing bubble? What can I afford? How should I price my house? Anyone involved in the real estate market knows that the only way to answer these questions is to go out and spend months learning the real estate market. But, what if your dream home shows up before then?

Neighborhood Councils: Chance for Respect

Neighborhood Councils: Chance for Respect

Next at the LANCC
By Leonard J. Shaffer

Are you tired of being left out of the process? Do you feel NCs have no respect?

Would you like to participate in modernizing parts of the Zoning Code before they’re written in stone? The Los Angeles Planning and Zoning Dept. is giving us the chance to do just that.

For a number of months the Zoning Division of Planning has been going over areas of the code they think could stand some updating and modernizing.

They have met with members of the development and business communities. Now they are coming to the NCs to get our thoughts and ideas before they go to the City Planning Commission.

This is a chance for neighborhood councils to participate as we have never participated before. This is our chance to sit at the table and present our ideas on how our city, and the way it works, can be improved.

On May 3, as part of its regular meeting, the LA Neighborhood Council Coalition will host members of the Planning Dept who will engage those present in a dialogue to as to how the code should be updated and modernized to make things easier and more transparent for everyone involved. That includes the Planners, the developers and the NCs.

This meeting is open to everyone. Prior to the meeting we will send out an email outlining those parts of the code being considered for updating. That will help everyone to be prepared to participate.

The LANCC meeting will start at 9:30 instead of the usual 10:00 AM.

Also featured, our own Raphe Sonenshein will be there to fill us in on the progress of the NC Review Commission recommendations that have been adopted by the city council and those that are still awaiting approval.

At 11:00 we will move on to the Planning Dept portion of the agenda.

This is an important milestone in the progress and development of NCs. Let’s not waste this opportunity to be part of our city’s democratic process.
